The microbiology product line includes the MicroScan Instruments and MicroScan panels/consumables, along with data management solutions. The business operates with an installed base of over 6,000 instruments globally. The Siemens clinical microbiology business is an established leader in microbial identification and antibiotic sensitivity testing (ID/AST).
The agreement is subject to applicable regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2015. Beckman Coulter, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Danaher Corporation, has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the clinical microbiology business of Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics.
